Case Studies - Commercial and Industrial

Lake Bank, Littleborough

This recently completed project built out of natural stone and slate roof presented the complex juxtaposition of commercial and residential accommodation. The ground floor extension to this busy amusement arcade is topped by two upper floors, providing two luxury two bedroom apartments.

Through close liaison with the owner and developer, we were able to keep the existing arcade open, apart from a period of one week, when the knock through from new to existing was carried out. The project was completed for the start of the new season, Easter 2007.

The Moorcock Inn, Littleborough

This historic building, originally a farm and then an inn, benefited from a large scale extension, creating a state-of-the-art restaurant kitchen at ground floor level, with living accommodation for the owners above.

The shell of the building was built around the original kitchen which was in a tin shed, and when this was complete we were given just two weeks to demolish the old kitchen, complete the interior of the ground floor and fit out the new kitchen, in time for its re-opening. With the restaurant set to lose several thousand pounds per day during its shut-down period, it was critical that everything went smoothly during this period. The restaurant re-opened on schedule, and is still a thriving and popular eating place.

Church Lane, Oldham

This project, at the offices of Michael Meacher MP, was extremely sensitive for two reasons. Firstly, it was, and still is the offices of a Member of Parliament, and secondly, the building carries Grade 2 Listed Status.

The project was to repair 15 original sliding sash windows. This was done professionally and quickly, after sourcing the correct materials for the job, and commissioning the manufacture of hardwood beading no longer available "off the shelf". The project was completed and re-decorated in just 10 days.

The Old Post Office, Firgrove

The former Post Office at 230 Rochdale Road will provide office headquarters for Turnstone Developments Ltd, along with a luxury 2 bedroom apartment above for private rent. The apartment will benefit from separate access via an outside staircase, along with its own off – road parking area.

From outside, the building with natural flagged stone roof and coursed stone walls will retain its original character, with the addition of new uPVC windows in company colours and new signage.
